Yummy Rice Crispie Dessert :)

For Mother's Day, I baked up this little recipe "pizza. "

You will need:
3 tbsp unsalted butter
4 cps mini marshmallows (you can use the larger ones, but the smaller melt much faster).
6 cps Rice Krispies
White chocolate (to be "grated" like cheese).
Raspberry preserves
Fresh blackberries

Melt the butter in a large saucepan.

Measure out the marshmallows while the butter is melting.

Add the marshmallows and stir frequently.

Make sure all of the marshmallows are melted.

Then add the Rice Crispies. Stir until all of them are fully coated. Then you will put them into a "deep dish" pie pan (I used a 9" cake pan). To smooth our the surface, and give the "crust" more definition, I used a smaller pan to sort of push onto the treat. It worked quite well. :)

After the rice crispies are cooled, spread the raspberry preserves onto it, I used about 1/3 of an 11 ounce jar. Add the grated white chocolate, and spread like you would cheese on a pizza.

Then place the blackberries in a decorative fashion.

Voila!

The original recipe can be found here.

Sweet Sixteen

I made this little book for a friend's sixteenth birthday... her party is on friday. The poem I used is this one.

Materials:
1 box or tin, used to put the mini book inside.
various coordinating paper.
various embellishments.
pieces of thin cardboard. mine were 5.5" x 3.25"
extra pieces of the paper, for optional tabs.

It was pretty simple, I cut the paper a half inch longer than the cardboard pieces.
I embellished them, then centered them onto the cardboard. I folded the excess paper, put the "tabs" in place, and started gluing.

I glued them all back-to-back, after folding them in half.

Here's what all the pages look like:

Nifty Purse Organizer

This was so much fun to make. I bought the fabric at Hobby Lobby this morning.

The original tutorial is here, from The Giving Flower, and I loved Bella Dia's version.

I first laid out all the things I was going to put into the organizer: my wallet, pencil case, planner, pens, graphing calculator, cell, and mirrors. I spaced them out enough in order for them to have plenty of room. I cut the fabric (both pieces), which ended up being 2'9" x 1'.

I followed the directions for the interfacing and ironed a piece large enough to cover each piece and pinned them to be sewn.

I stitched the right sides together, leaving room to turn it inside out. Once finished, I top stitched around the whole thing. I folded over about 5 inches and sewed only the ends, leaving room to stitch my pockets. I measured each item to be put in the organizer and make the marks accordingly on the fabric. I sewed VERY straight lines to separate the pockets.

I put it into my purse and I LOVE IT. Everything used to be just in the bottom of my purse, now I can easily find what I need. :)

buttons. lot's of buttons.

I'm sorry it's been a couple weeks. It's busy over here.

Anyways, these are some of the keychain-looking things I've had an obsession with making. They're simply buttons, a couple beads, and fishing string.

Happy Belated Easter. :)

Spring sprung upon me and hit me in the face. so did Easter. As for it being a month a early... that totally threw me off. :/

These are the yummy Palmer brand chocolates. They're my favorite.

These are some pretty painted easter eggs. Just gorgeous.

Like my toes? I got them done last Friday.

This is the first bluebonnet to show up for this Spring. It's all alone but totally cute and random. I love it.

Vintage-y goodness.

I found all these little things in the lake house, and fell in love with them. I hope you do too. :)

This adorable cup and saucer set; so retro.

I just loved this vintage wine bottle with the lace tied around it.

These were the cutest miniature pitchers and jars.

This Coca Cola poster was from the seventies I think. :)

The older couple that lives here used to collect cookie jars. :)

This is the gorgeous wallpaper in the kitchen. So simple, yet dashing.

A pretty glass plate.
These little guys kinda creeped me out. It was a set of four Monk salt & pepper shakers. Odd, but cute.

Easter Weekend: Let's go to the lake.

My whole family went to the lake for Easter weekend. We all had lots of fun, especially Suzie, who had her first overnight trip. :) The family we went with (it's their lakehouse), brought their two dogs, Sadie and Lucy. They all played together.
The views were wonderful any time of day. The house was right on the lake and was in a cute cove.

Suzie played with Sadie the whole time, they loved it. :)

Here's Suzie trying to eat the catfish that jumped out of the ice chest. :)

In the next post, I'll show you some of the decorations in the house, which was built in the seventies, so it's plenty "mod."
